That is a lot of people! Good job on organizing. I was thinking of maybe combining the one we had in Irmo with this one. I posted that previously on here, but I know everyone was tied up with this one that it went un-noticed. The only issue I've found with that is where could we have it that it pretty much in the middle for everyone? At the irmo swap, it seemed like we had people from Sumter north to the upstate. Only a few people south of Cola showed, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. I know we can't please everyone. But I'm thinking that Charlotte would be the "middle" even though it's 2.5 hours from me, probably the furthest traveler in SC.

If we had it I think a spring and fall would suffice. That way it would give everyone time to replenish for the next meet.

I think it is safe to say - count Allison and Gavin in - we had a BLAST . It was so good to see all our chicken friends again. I think the fall and spring are great times of the year .

I do have one problem with the chicken meet up

- I WANT MORE MORE MORE chickens

I have fallen in love with partridge silkies and paint's OMG - someone stop me - .

it was a perfect day

For me to host this would be the place, only because there were no fees (thank you DH

) to have it at the facility as well as no restrictions. I think trying to find somewhere that will allow people to bring in poultry to a public place may be in issue as well as possible fees to rent a location, aside maybe a Tractor supply???

Very true and even then some TSC parking lots are not nearly large enough for all us chicken folk. This place was just north of Charlotte, right?

Yes, north/west of Charlotte, about 40 minutes.

I now as much as our local TSC wanted us to have it at their store it would not have fit in their parking lot.

I can also only assume that as more people here about this event from other chicken folk that is will only grow in number and need to take that into consideration as well when it comes to space. I like where we are as it has plenty of room for growth.

I love where we had it! Tons of parking room, no one got stuck or jammed in and it is probably easy to find (I followed Chickychickybaby!

I think it was best there because, as Tricia said, it was big and free, good bathrooms, concession stand and wonderful, terrific people like Tricia and her DH were able to get back and forth to set up and get home after an exhausting week of prep (probably more than a week actually!)

I would love to see it in the spring and fall even though it was 75 miles up there. I had a great day of sales, made more than if I stayed home (and sold them cheaper than at the farm)so it was well worth it. I just wish I had had time to shop but I didn't need more birds!

Thank you so much for the compliments Amy.

DH worked hard at getting the grounds ready with mowing & weed eating, concession and getting the bathrooms ready.

My DH and I also had a great time. It was a bit of a drive, but the facilities were really well-suited for the swap. It was about 3 1/2 hours for us to drive. The only thing I would suggest is to maybe have it go on just a little longer. I'm not an early morning person (insomniac all my life!) and we did not get there till 10:30 and it was over too soon! Would have liked to have met more folks and their chickens! Just a thought. Thanks for all your hard work Tricia and my hubby was very happy to meet a fellow "gator". Also, thanks for bringing the DE. No one in our area carries it. Hope to see you all in the spring.

I drove over 2 hrs to get there.. but ya know it was easy driving.. main roads all the way then just a short jot off of 27 easy peasy.. cant beat free and have facilities at the same time... nearly unheard of trust me We have searched high and low for just such a perfect place in upstate Sc for our church community yearly event ,,,
I would really enjoy a spring swap as well so a spring and a fall would work out great...
