Cat bite

VetRX is a great product. It's good to keep on hand.

When a chicken refuses to eat, start by tricking them with good tasting stuff. If you can get her to eat some scrambleds eggs, or Vienna sausage, cottage cheese, or cooked oatmeal, or boiled rice with yogurt stirred in, it will trigger the appetite. Then offer regular feed.

If she is totally not willing to eat or is too weak, you may need to tube. We can go over that if you face having to do this.

To get her to drink, put a little sugar in the water. This almost always gets them to drink, and it won't hurt for a day or two.

Thank you so much for all your help, ive given the liquamycin and shes in her box in my kitchen for the night lol 😆 and i figured the vetrx would be good to have on hand in case i need it in the future!

Is she drinking? Fluids can be more important than food in the short term. Dehydration sets in very quickly and causes weakness which causes lack of appetite. Work on getting her to drink some warm sugar water with Nutri-drench.

One chicken should be consuming around two cups of water daily, give or take according to the weather and other bodily functions such as egg laying.

Tha m you so much for all your help and advice, unfortunately she had a sezuire in my arms about 10 minutes ago and died 😢

I'm so sorry. It's so sad to lose a chicken when you've worked so hard to try to save them. But we learn from these events. Next time, treat for shock immediately, and start an antibiotic the second you find puncture wounds. Time is an enemy when bacteria is involved as it multiplies so quickly, getting our of control, making it harder for an antibiotic to be effective.

You might want to order some amoxycillin to have on hand if you have another injured or sick chicken. I've found it to be one of the most versatile antibiotics for just about any situation.
