Cat killed one of my hens last night! GRR!

You need to have hardware cloth along the bottom of the pen, at least, so that predators cannot pull pieces of them through to eat or this will not stop.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

But please don't be cruel to the cats....you don't even know if they killed your birds.

Speaking of being cruel, why are your cats starving? You starve your animals then blame them when they try to get food? Irresponsible.

We have a trap big enough for a skunch coon or a cat. Hopefully we catch something tonight!!!

No - I don't mean to starve the cats. You don't get it. They are W I L D they hardly every come up to the house and when they do we feed them. But they mostly go find their own food ( Like My Chickens )

Hay kid don;t get too upset - It may or may not have been a cat. I have seen wild cats take chickens. Yep they do! But only really wild ones. Tame house pussy cat usually don;t touch chickens at all as they are far too big. But they sometimes will snatch a chick so you need to look out for those! Skunks will take the head, weissels and stoats. Cats usually feed on the body not leave it.

I am so sorry you are so upset and cross. Do try to get the birds in the coop tonight - As I said try getting a treat they like and they will soon come running. Like some cabbage or the like that they have to come in and take time to eat - so it gives you time to shut the door!!!!!!!!!

Your in my thoughts -

I haven't ever let my chicks out of the coop yet.

That's not the problem, it's just I need to fix the crack in the door and I also need to figure out a way to keep the chicks from roosting by the door

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

Yep - Sure is! The bad, horibble thing is that I have all my favorite chickens in that coop!

I'm kinda starting to thing that is was a skunk? Cause me & my mom kinda smelt skunk. What eats the body and leaves the head behind?

I have learned if you smell skunk, you are probably smelling fox. they have a smell that i used to say was skunk until a trapper told me otherwise.
but a raccoon will pull a head through wire and eat it.
