Super cute pictures of kitties everyone! I'm particularly fond of the sleeping kittens and Silkies - wish my Silkies were that tame. I got mine when they were 1.5-2 years old. They like to run away from me.

Here's Scooter doing what he does best. Please note, he is also shedding, which is part of what he does best, you just can't see it in the pictures...(with Molly)

I have two in the house here and 1 at my mamaws that has leukemia :(. my long-haired white cat thinks shes the surrogate mother off all the animals that get brought in the house. Her name is Precious aka pusspuss

I am sorry one has leukemia! We learned about this the hard way when a kitty came into the house from the outside that was a stray. Nine month later kitty started getting sick and hand fed him and passed five months later. Kitty wasn't even a year and half yet. After that our youngest kitty not even three yet contacted it also, we got him tested and he was my baby and lived for three and half more years, he would of been 7 if he would of made it just another 7 months. We used to collect all the stray kitties, Mamas, Males and a friend used to place them into homes for us.

What a beautiful picture! It belongs on a calendar or something!
I'm sorry about the sick kitty. I always quarantined strays and spent a fortune on blood work to test for FIV/Leu - but I know that this is not always possible. I hope the kitty with leukemia stays well for a long time and doesn't develop too many complications.

My sick cat is around 15 years old so far. So he's hanging in there. He has to go the vet every month for a shot because his immune system is so bad. Thanks SilkieNation for the compliment on the picture. I took it with my phone so it was kinda blurry.

Mandy. She was a friendly stray that we picked up to take to our house, but she tried to kill all our cats, even lunging at them in our arms. She was nice to people though, and went to some who had recently lost their cat. She is doing well, and now goes by Amber.

This is Black-cat. He was in love with Scardy, but she was fixed, and couldn't stand him.

He ended up going to a shelter to find a new home, as he was a nice cat.

Well 15 is pretty darn good! Kitty must be getting good care. And I think the fuzziness of your picture makes it look like a painting. I love it.

All of my cats so far, even though they lived inside, ate the best food, went to the vet regularly, always had fresh water, had a happy and relaxed life, ended up with horrible diseases and died by 16. I tend to have animals that get sick - my horse even, lost her eyes to uveitis (still with me and doing great BTW). Not sure what it's all about. Maybe I should start feeding them the cheapest food on the market, let their water get dirty and run dry or freeze, never take them to the vet, let them have fleas, ticks and worms, leave them out in the cold, at night, with the coyotes...maybe then they'd live long, healthy lives. Actually, that sounds a whole lot like a barn cat I know who happens to be getting on in years! (Definitely not my barn...) This winter was really bad and I went to that barn every other day to give that poor guy water and food. 15 below, snow storms, whatever. Made him a shelter. Did the best I could. He's a long hair and becomes just big, dense, tight mats with a bunch of burrs mixed in. Then in the spring they peel off of his body to his skin, sometimes taking some skin with them. They hang off in big clumps and pull at his skill every time he moves. I cut them off. It's awful. They call it shedding... They get very defensive when I say anything. They no NOTHING about cats. One of these days, this kitty is going to disappear (in my car). Problem is I can't take him home and have no where but a shelter to put him (although I know of a great one). I think I am ranting. Forgive me. But, let me go on! They had chickens. Most died from dehydration I suspect. The four that were left were kept in a horse stall. For two years, I was the ONLY one who gave those animals food and water. Heck I bought them food a bunch of times. In the winter, their water would always be frozen because I just couldn't get there everyday. They'd be absolutely desperate for food and water. Sometimes I almost cry when I think about how they suffered. I eventually convinced them to let me take the birds to a rescue farm. Then, they got a kitten, in the dead of winter, and immediately started not feeding it enough, no water, outside day and night, no shelter, nada. He disappeared in my car very quickly and is the most wonderful creature. They think the fox got him. Tee hee. People.

Yeah he gets babied. Every time he sees me he runs & hides because he thinks Im taking him to the vet. Thanks I didnt think of it like that.

Aww...sorry to hear that. I love horses. I want one so bad. My uncle in Kentucky has a few. You would think after trying taking care of them the "right" way they would be fine but something always has to happen.Yeah I had an outside long haired cat that matted bad but it was hard to cut the clumps off of him. Had to brush him as often as I could. Thats ok rant all you want lol. Thats awful. Glad you were able to do what you could & rescued the kitten! Poor animals. I hate when people get animals & dont take care of them! The people next door have a dozen cats they dont want but wont take them to a shelter or get them fixed so the just keep reproducing. Our dogs end up killing any that come into the yard...which I cant stand because I love cats....However, one cat killed two baby chicks :(

Mesa, the classic cream tabby. We think his owner may have been arrested and released him, because he is very friendly but never really left our property after arriving. He wasn't fixed, and he fell in love with our porch cat, Genny. She finally excepted him, and was sad to see him go, but Mesa fought with our cats and ate our chicks and killed two of our silkie hens (we think). He was very sweet, and he taught our orphan Nym how to behave.
We brought him to a shelter, which agreed with us, he was really sweet

This is Tabby, Scardy, Tiger and Pygmy feeding with the stray, Black Cat

Pi, the stray tomcat that got hit by a car. He suffered a badly damaged leg that he has just now (over a year later) started using, eyes that don't work well, and poor hearing. I can tip toe past him and he doesn't notice me, and if I stand still he doesn't notice me either. However, he makes his way across roads, to town, and through the winter and survives. He is getting better and is getting tamer as well. he doesn't like me getting near him unless he is in a very good mood.

Missy, a creepy looking momma cat that had four kittens. A friend of ours got a lot of strays dropped off at her house, around 30 of them! She didn't want kittens, but Missy had them and we offered to raise them up and find them homes. Missy stayed with us, and she would try to attack us or always hide, but when she was with her owners she even let them pet her and was sweet.

Smokey, Cougar, Joy and one other kitten that's name escapes me at the moment. We only had them a few weeks, and they suffered illness a lot. We adopted them out with Black Cat. They were very sweet and playful.

Pepper, a cat we found after it was hit by a car, at the same house Missy came from. We were house-sitting so we put it inside and gave it food and water to try and help it cool off. From what we heard he made a full recovery.

Orange-cat (Sherbert) was another stray that came our way. He had a thick coat and use to be terrified of us, but we own him over. The other cats, however, didn't get along with him. He attacked Scardy, Tiger, and Pi, nearly killing Tiger, and leaving him covered in wounds and near death. We got him fixed and then found him a new home.

Scardy, resting after an attack from Orange-cat. She doesn't usually get to come inside, but she needed some medication for her limp

Poor little Tiger, feeling better after his attack. He had a terrible fever and an awful limp, but he healed up completely after a few days in the basement with some antibiotics. However, he has learned how to avoid antibiotics unless it is really mixed in with wet food. I think he is tired of taking it.
