Caught One....Now What?!

Perhaps the moral discussion could be moved to its own thread...

Last summer we relocated a couple predators only 5 miles away, and they haven't come back yet.................of course they were snapping turtles

There is only one thing to do, make a predator proof run.

I agree totally. All this time is wasted time that you could have been building a predator proof coop. We've all got racoons and coyotes, etc., but we predator proof the coop. Simple.

ps. Relocating an animal isn't even fair to the animal, let alone making it someone else's problem.

Kill it instantly or release it in your backyard. It was only trying to survive and saw a good meal!

He will be the one running when you open the door....he wants outa there as badly as you want him off your property. Don't worry, he's not gonna turn around once he shoots out of the cage.

Good luck!!!

This is totally way off topic but I have actually ate racoon.
We have 2 pig pickins each year at church. A guy said he really would like to try coon. So we caught him one an bbq'd it.

It was actually tasty. Taste like dark meat chicken. I could not get past the round worms that came rolling out when we gutted it.

My reason for using ether for coon disposal is as follows: The VP of the company I work for is an animal lover. He would not hurt a flea. He has like 50 bird feeders in his yard. The squirrels stayed on his bird feeders. He bought a BB gun and started shooting them. He had a ball poppingthe squirrels. It did not kill them. It just ran them off. Then he bought a live trap. He relocated them for months.

Then he caught a cat. A really nasty looking and smelling tom cat. He tried to relocate it but every time he reach to open the door the cat clawed him. He finally put the trap in a garbage can and sprayed ether into it to put it to sleep until he could open the door and let it go.

Well, it never woke up. He said it just went to sleep and never woke up. I suggested this method because the person asking did not want the coon to suffer. I was just giving her another option.

Sorry if I offended anyone.

Let's not see any more mud slinging now from this post on. This is the pred and pest section. Present ways you take care of your pest problems and provide suggestions. Rationale for your methods or against your methods is fine. But NO "you're right/wrong" arguments. Please take personal disputes off the thread.
