Cayuga Duckling Dead on Arrival.. another three dead in the following 5 hours..

They are VERY active, running around, eating moist crumbles and fresh-ground greens in a dish of water. In and out of the water dishes..and yes I am changing these regularly! Drying off under the heat lamp, then doing it all over again. Feeling thankful and blessed today

We have named them Sapphire and Emerald as the adults have gorgeous shimmering plumage.. Emerals is quite a bit bigger than Sapphire although Sapphire was the one I really had to work hard with the hand-feeding. These are supposed to be all female but I am wondering now..

Your post made me smile, so happy to hear these 2 littles Sapphire and Emerald have turned around now. It's great news. be sure to give them chick grit since your feeding them greens so they have a way to grind it up, crumbles they don't need grit but feeding anything else they do. They are adorable. Hopefully they are both girls.

Wow! Thanks for the advice on the greens. I had blithely assumed that the feed had grit in it but it does not. I DO have grit for my adult ducks but it is way too large for these little guys so I will hold off the greens for now until I get chick grit later today.
