Celebrating the Silver Spangled Hamburg

I know, and they are straight run to boot! NO way I'm getting 5 roosters for $1,000.

Cement floors do come in handy, partly because they're easy to clean and no predators can come up into the coop. And unless they are in REALLY bad shape, you won't fall through!

I have something in my coop, though, that I'll bet you don't. Spiders hanging in every window! I want to get rid of them, but yuck......

That's the only critter on this planet I don't like.

No spiders in my windows, mine are chicken wire! I have something even worse.... gigantic 3-inch wide spiders ON THE CEILING. I never look up at night when I go and close the chooks up. Never. No exeptions.
I got rid of the largest ones this spring with a ten-foot pole and 30 hungry chickens!!!!!

Wow, I didn't know what I said was that funny!

Just reading about your spiders makes chills run up and down my spine.....that's a fabulous and very practical solution to ridding yourself of the spider problem. No spiders and some very happy, full chickens! My girls are all stomach, always hungry, ready for a snack any time, and starving constantly! You would never know that I keep feed out 24/7.

In fact, I even found Angel running around the yard with a dead baby bird in her mouth. What was gross was that it had been dead a little while......YUCK!!!!!

You can imagine that I made her drop it and squished it under a piece of shale barn roofing. There, that's my disgusting story of the night.

yeah it is funny because seriously..... extra roos, no one is going to proccess 200$ roos for the freezer! (the little face just made it even funnier!!) You would be stuck what to do with them......

Yes, It's a great solution for a spider problem! too bad the chickens cannot reach the roof, I have a ginormous coop that is around 10 feet tall at the peak. there is a line around where the chickens sleep, outside it is all spiderwebs and inside it is as clean as if I swept it out once a day. The line happens to be at about chicken neck height.... I wonder why. LOL

EEW thats really gross! I'm glad you caught her with it! my chickens got ahold of a toad one and ATE IT.... they ate a second one too!!

silly chickens.... the funny thing though was the same chicken (sundae) ate the toad both times! all the other chickens ignored it and she tore into it!!
