Oh, did I tell you that I had a chance to get another Hamburg when we were at Meyer? There was one in the overstock bin (they didn't label it, but I knew what it was), but I decided to get a second Spitzhauben instead.

Anyone have any luck getting their SSH hens to lay in nest boxes even when they're free ranging? Please share your methods!

I had the same problem. Try raising them up a bit if that's possible. Mine had the same problem. I nailed in plastic bowls (large ones)on the top corners of there hen house (it's only 1.5m tall). So if you could imagine pushing a bowl into a corner and nailing it in at the 2 points at which the bowl touches the walls.... So I did that and it's worked and even improved there laying
