Ok guys.. This is my first swap so I'm not sure of the best way to transport my chickens. I have some old guinea pig cages I use for brooders. Can I bring them in that? Is there water available there or should I bring a couple of gallons for them and myself? Thanks!

There is water available. Any cage will work for transport. If you are transporting birds in the back of a truck then you might want to get them some fruit such as mellon to nibble on for their trip as it will help keep them hydrated. If they will be transported inside an air conditioned vehicle then they will be OK. In this heat, birds can dehydrate rather quickly.
There will also be consessions so you will be able to get cold soda or water for yourself along with maybe a hotdog if you get hungry.

Hey, I finally joined BYC. Taking vacation day today! Have to work tomorrow, but am sending my daughter to Ocala swap meet. She will be bringing Buff Orpington show quality chicks 4-5 wks old, by Large fowl champ SEYF and Champ English FL sate fair 2010. Self Blue OEGBs, show and non-show quality, one breeding cock and chicks 2-3 months. One pair of Buff Orp/Barred Plymouth rock chicks-7 wks by large gentle show quality Barred Rock, my only accidental breeding this year. Also selling heavy plastic transport coop-$35. We are a NPIP negative farm, all stock healthy and handled daily.
I'll have started Midget White turkeys of two different ages. The first were hatched on April 16 of this year so will be nine weeks old by this Saturday. The second were hatched May 07 and will be six weeks old. Both groups well started and no longer needing a brooder. Too young to reliably sex yet.
I'll also have some mixed dual-purpose pullets hatched April 10 so will be just shy of ten weeks old. Halfway to point of lay!
I am not going to be able to make it tomorrow. My husband was rushed to the hospital with chest pains. While I was there with him we had a predator rip the goose pen apart so my kids were dealing with containing them back up. Lost one African Goose and 2 Rouen hens. With one very torn up LGD, and all the call ducks and Sebastopols and Africans ok but shakin up.
Hubby is feeling better tonight, stress test in the morning.
