You guys! I have Muscovy and yes they do pinch like the dickens when you mess with their eggs. I just go ahead and do it. I love to candle and they get over it pretty quick.

So you have to deal with one duck. If i do something wrong in the duck house and Katharina calls for help, i will have to deal with 17. And you know what Blanca duck can do, just ask Erpelchen…

Quick Update: It was a dreary day here in WV, going from eggsessive heat warning to flash-flood warning within 24 hours, raining the whole day.
Katharina came out of the duck house just to eat some cat-food and to take a quick dip in the pool, giving me barely enough time to remove the two new eggs from her nest.
Apart from that short break, she was sitting on her nest the whole day, likely without eating and/or drinking. At what point should i be concerned with her? Is drinking and eating just once a day survivable for a duck?
She also has buried herself really deep into the bedding, like one of those periscope ducks from last year, only her head sticks out.
I could not make any pictures of her today, it was just too dark in the duck house and i did not want to use the flash.

My Brody’s usually just come off their nest 1x a day. Sometimes 2 she’ll be fine.

Update: Today i was running late and released the ducks around 10:30, everybody was angrily quacking at me, only Katharina quietly sat on her nest. The door opened, everybody stormed out and ran to the patio, except Katy, so i looked at her and gave her a personal invitation. Then she demonstrated that is named correctly:
Her Highness looked down at me (even though she was sitting on the ground), gently got up on her feet, carefully re-arranged the eggs, meticulously covering them with bedding and feathers and walked tho steps away. Turned around and verified that the nest is fine. "OH NO!" She quacked, "i cannot go outside like this!". So she took a little more time to arrange the grand dresses before stepping out of the palace in majestic gait. Like a true Tsarina.
Then she ate meal-worms and cat-food together with the common people, while her humon servant filled the lofty bathtubs with clean, fresh water. - And snuck into the duck house to remove the two additional eggs from this night/morning.
What heresy! One of the ordinary dared to use the bath before the Empress! That must be punished immediately! But what is that? While Katharina is punishing Blanca Duck, another ordinary dares to climb into another bathtub! Open revolution! Conditions like in the chicken house! Guards!
There was literally no duck today that was not beaten, bitten or mounted by Katharina. She dominated everyone, even Erpelchen who is twice her size was run down by her.
Then her Highness took her bath in peace, ate some fresh greenery, pooped and walked back into the house to her nest.
She took on 16 other ducks and got through with it! I guess she will be a good mother!

I wish somebody could have filmed that! I was just too busy, dispensing meal-worms, filling up water bowls all the time carefully avoiding the wrath of her highness.

Update: I think it is about half way in, Katharina started to sit on two eggs on 7/14 and within 5 days another seven eggs joined the clutch…
Had a very busy week, so i could not post any update since Tuesday, but Katharina is sitting on her nest day and night with just 1 or two breaks per day. I had a chance to "candle" some of the eggs, i think on Thursday. Not sure what i saw, because i only had my phone's LED light. There is definitely something in the eggs! I have seen a spider-net of veins, some dark floating mass and the air-cells. Sorry, could not make any pictures, because i was using my phone and i had to hurry, because the »Quacknado« was approaching… On the extended Quackjita-scale she must be somewhere between ED3 and EQ4, she bit me when she caught me in the duck house on Friday morning, see for yourself:
