Hi Everyone.

This is Charlie, formally answering to the name “Charlotte”. He’s a beautiful and friendly Speckled Sussex that I can’t keep in my town... seeing as I’m not even supposed to have chickens. Anyone ready to welcome this super healthy 10-week-old boy into their coop?

A little more about Charlie: He was a beautiful baby. He enjoys poetry and has begun dabbling in writing himself (mostly stuff about clover leaves and a few shorter poems about one of the hens that he lives with— they are pretty tight but I think he’d actually welcome a separation so that his work could be more inspired by lost love). He doesn’t talk much, but when he does, he gets a lot of respect. He also gets a lot of laughs, as he’s a natural comedian— not just physical comedy— which you’d expect from a chicken— honestly he’s got some subtle dry humor happening. I mean, the looks this guy gives. I’m constantly cracking up. He does NOT have a big ego. He’s basically chill and not full of himself.

I will miss him when he goes...

Anyone interested?

Lara

PS. I posted some other requests for rehoming him... but I don’t think I did it in the right spot. Sorry for repeats.

PPS Do you all see how he’s looking into Obi’s eyes? He’s a chicken who can hypnotize a cat.

Have you posted on your state's thread? Pictures with ads at local feed stores? Local auctions or swaps?
It's hard to place cockerels, I know.
He is really beautiful!!!
Mary

Thanks for the advice, Mary.

Is there a state thread on Backyard Chickens?

As far as local feed store... well, there's no such thing. My town is a little heavier on clothing and decor. Ha ha ha.

So... here's the deal. I sort of don't want anyone to take him. He's glorious and sweet and actually seems to care about the hens. He's part of this fabric here. Maybe he won't be such a loud and frequent crower. And if he is, maybe I will point out that the ubiquitous leaf blowers that frequent the streets are actually noise pollution and roosters are creatures that belong here. Right?

I think I'm going to move. That's the best solution.

:)
