@SandyRiverChick I notice you have a ragdoll kitty listed in your signature, any pictures of them? My kitty, Casper, showed up out of our woods one day, so obviously he wasn't carrying any pedigree papers with him or anything to be sure of his breed, but a lot of people think he could be either part or full ragdoll, or perhaps Balinese. I just know he's my baby boy and I adore him.

Mine complain if I'm even just a little late getting their breakfast in the morning, and some of them refuse to roost on their own, insisting that I lift them to their chosen roosting place every night. Somehow I don't think 'higher being' is quite what they think of me.

Question… I recently got some quail hens, was wondering if i could use potting soil for a dust bath, but i saw somewhere the little white (fertilizer?) balls are bad for them. can i sift them out or should i not use any soil that had it in there

I've used succulent mix in the past, (it doesn't contain fertilizer though) and it has worked fine

Are the white balls perlite? That's heated and popped (expanded) volcanic obsidian. It's a common product in commercial potting soil. It's not supposed to be hazardous but it's pretty non-digestible. It's probably not a good thing for them. It's only use is to add drainage to soil. Is there a list of contents on the bag?
