HES GORGEOUS!!! You should post him more often :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love :love

It is his month, October 2021 was when I took him in. :love

But I also post more pictures of him on his thread, at least a couple times a week. 🙂

What breed is he? Is he a Ragdoll?

He was actually dumped in the area and I adopted him after I made sure someone wasn't out there looking for him. In other words, I don't really know his breed, but people ask if he's anything from a Ragdoll to a Siamese to a Himalayan. I honestly kind of suspect that he's a traditional Balinese if anything purebred because there is a traditional Balinese breeder not too far from here and he looks a lot like the breed. But without any paperwork or a DNA test, officially he's just a domestic longhair. 🙂

Awwwww. So heartwarming :love :love :hugs . Maybe a cat DNA test? Don't know how accurate they are though...

Luna is domestic longhair too but I did the test and it came back with several different breeds lol tbh I don’t really trust Wisdom Panel though. Brewster’s came back kinda random especially when they updated his results. Some was similar to the other test I did and some was just whacky lol so therefore not sure I trust the cat’s results either. Especially with it being a newer test. If Embark did it, I would totally trust it. That’s the other test I did for Brew and found it extremely accurate. But they don’t do cat DNA yet unfortunately. 😭😭😭

I actually used to think she had some Norwegian Forest Cat so it’s not totally off lol but she’s tiny sooo

My understanding is that cat DNA tests aren't as accurate as dog DNA tests because of how cats were domesticated. It was less of an active effort on the part of humans as was the case with dogs and more of, well, cats domesticating themselves to live with humans because of all the benefits they got from it. And because of that, distinct breeds of cat are a relatively recent development compared to dogs who were actively domesticated and selected for different traits to do different jobs right away. From what I gathered when I was reading about this a while back, a lot of cat breeds share a lot of DNA markers that can make it tricky to really fully distinguish them by DNA. The test is also fairly expensive to do and I just don't have the money for something like that right now, so if I do try a DNA test with him it will have to be later down the line sometime. 🙂

Ah okay that makes sense!! Luna is apparently mostly just ordinary cat with a little flavor 🤣🤣🤣
