With solid white plumage, interestingly enough, I've found that I actually don't mind it if the bird has slate legs that are not feathered so you can actually see the slate color on them. I don't like it with white or yellow shanks. I guess my eyes just want a little more contrast on my birds. Then again, solid black doesn't bother me like that, so maybe that's not why.
I don't necessarily disagree on the Lavender Orpingtons, but for me it's primarily because a lot of them here have that awful feather shredding that's associated with the lavender gene. But I did really love the one I had while she was still with me. She was the absolute sweetest bird.![]()
Yeah, I agree that white birds with clean legs are much prettier than the ones with feathered legs. I really like all white birds with clean legs, and yes, especially leghorns. Although I do prefer Isabella leghorns. The shredding gene is another big factor, yes. Generally don't love that gene, although it really works on Ameraucana. I will also say that most of the colours I say I dislike, it's usually not the case with super clean (as in, no leakage) and proper SOP birds
