Chat Thread for the New Crazy 24 hour Auction

Wow!!! Look at you with almost 2000 posts hahaha!! I'll get there eventually! And even though my family is new to all this, we'd still appreciate quality eggs that we can enjoy hatching and raising them to be healthy birds! So yes these two threads will def be worth the wait! :)

lol... I have no idea on my post #, on mobile and it doesn't show that... guess I'm a bit of a chatterbox...
BYC is a great community, and very addicting, lol... once ya get involved it just seems to spread... :D

they are definitely worth the wait. It doesn't take long to get your numbers up, especially if you find a good group of people to chat with!

Exactly! :D

Oh, btw @minihorse927 there was plenty of interest in your Ancona's... unfortunately, my wallet refuses to share in that interest, lol... you know it's bad when your wallet creaks when you open it and all you hear is an echo...

I'm trying to cope with disaster here.

Friday night we had a big tornado outbreak in my area. Some towns were extensively damaged. MULTIPLE vortexes swept through my little town. Fortunately nobody was hurt and there was no major damage to houses. Some barns were flattened, trees were down and roofs damaged.

But we got torrential rain with the system. The tin got blown off my chicken pens, and nest boxes blew around. Some nest boxes got their tops blown off.

I've been wading through ankle deep mud trying to put things to right. My poor chickens are staying on their roosts and on top of intact nest boxes, trying to avoid the mud the best they can. They are thickly caked with mud, and I'm worried about their health. That's a big stress for them.

I've got all kinds of hatching egg orders that I don't know when I'll be able to fill. Which hurts financially because I have a very low fixed income and I still have to feed the birds.

This is a big set back, and I'm physically, emotionally and mentally exhausted.

Stay strong

I used a ton of mulch to keep everything dry when we had hurricane Sandy. Worked very well until I could get everything fixed up and fresh sand put down.

We have a lot of tree companies in the area that will dump free mulch off from freshly cut down trees. Maybe you have something similar in your area?

The chickens will have so much fun digging through all the fresh cut up bark/leaves that they will hardly notice the mud.
