Replying this way as I have reached my 2 message limit.
I thought about getting pre hatched chicks because you know they have made it that far but I have read that it is difficult to introduce new chickens into an already established flock. I think getting eggs would allow my mamas to be mamas and protect and raise some babies while still providing us with a greater diversity in the flock. I have read quite a few posts that have had positive results with this method. I'm afraid the new chickens would be attacked and I would end up having to keep them separated. Do you think allowing the broody hens to hatch these eggs would not work well? Do you think I could put day old chicks under the broody hen and she would accept them? I will have to search that because it only just came to mind.
