Checking a few important points before Permethrin treatment

You can use the same (bird one) dilution in the coop too.

The instructions basically just point out that if you do indeed have a serious problem you can spray a stronger dilution in the coop itself.

Don't over think this.

Spraying your coop real well will not hurt your birds.

I spray mine all the time.
I refuse to deal with any kind of bug... So I prevent them.
Ok, thanks!
I know there's something there, just hope I can find out tonight exactly what we're really dealing with.

If your pretty sure something is there spray them tonight pretty good and spray the crap out of the coop tomorrow.
Repeat next week.

If you have a mite or lice issue you need to treat at least twice.
The second time to kill any newly hatched nasties before they get to egg laying age.

I would recommend at least three treatments just to be safe.

One treatment will not break the parasite's cycle.
That's what I always thought - so weird! I also commented on that thread today, but haven't seen any responses. I hope that the people on that thread will read it and look into it.
And I think the 3 treatments are 7 days apart, but I'll look that up as well.
That Elector PSP issue really has my goat! It's so expensive, and it works! And it's safe to get on yourself, and even have the birds in the coop when spraying if necessary. And often, one treatment does the trick. Ugh!

I just had to use this on an injured chicken that got maggots overnight! I know. Yuck!!! When I read the instructions on the bottle I understood it to be 99 to 1 - 99 parts water to 1 part permethrin.
Right?! The booklet can be a bit of a pain...
Actually, there is a thread somewhere here that I ran across a few months back, in which a couple members look at those numbers and figure out a dosage. I would have looked for it, but I've looked through so many threads last night through today already, and spent a ton of time trying to research what to do about my other, faulty parasite product, I had to stop.

Gosh, I'm sorry about your chicken! Poor thing!
Well, I was giving her daily Epsom salt baths so I caught it very fast. The maggots were drowned and the spray was then a further preventative. Thanks for the sympathy. We fought hard for her, and she fought hard too, but we lost her Thursday night.
