Chick can’t close beak-help!

My method of culling chicks goes like this.

Your tools are a paper towel, a plastic sandwich bag and a heavy duty pair of kitchen sheers (scissors). You take the chick, and roll it up snuggly in the paper towel, making sure you can feel where the chick's neck is through the paper towel. This calms the chick and makes the next part easier. You place the chick/paper towel roll half in the sandwich baggy leaving the head and neck out. Take the scissors and swifty snip through the chicks neck through the paper towel. You don't want flimsy paper scissors, because they an bend and not do the job effectively. It will take a few seconds but you will start to see blood on the paper towel. When you finish the cut, before you start seeing blood, you can push the paper towel all the way into the baggy to contain any mess. If you like you can seal the bag and toss it like that, or take it out to the compost pile, dig a hole and bury the chick in the paper towel.

i am not a doctor but i was medical representative any medicine company before the police job. you can try betnesol tablet dissolve in water formula is betamethesone. i dont know is it available in your country but here in karachi it is available in every medical store or pharmacy. it is a human medicine or you can use pencillin benzyote injection dissolve in distrilled water and inject ha1\4 cc in his chest you can add for swelling denzen ds tablet half in injection fluid. it will work definitely.

dont let go your chick because you should have fight for his survival. i usually try different method till chicks last breath. last night my golden heavy cochin suffered from unknown disease may be he engulfed a tiny piece of wooden shave. and he is in great pain i did what i knew even i did C.P.R after his last breath. so dont lose your hope try to save him. because we love the our chicks.

Check into sending the chick in for a necropsy if you cull to see what that is.

Here in California it is in the twenty dollar range for cost.

Fluids could be given to keep it alive to see it the swelling goes down. Tube feeding would also be a possibilty if the chick is still alive.

I went to the feed store to get nutridrench and have her some with a dropper and followed up with water. The chicken guy at the feed store suggested lancing it. I sterilized a needle and tried draining it. The swelling went down some and she is a little perky after the fluids. Though now I’m noticing a striation under her lower beak. I’m wondering if it is broken. I tried to take a photo but it’s hard to get a good one.

I agree that line under the beak is suspicious. I try to give them the best chance but that swelling is odd.
I would try propolis. Its antibacterial and antifungal. Has amazing healing properties. You can find it in capsule form for people and that might be the easiest.
I would open the capsule and put the powder right on the lump.
Give the chick some water first so you just wash it off but eating it won't hurt the chick. It has pain relieving properties as well so if the beak is broken it could help with any pain she might feel.
