Chick can’t figure out how to eat

I have a week old silkie chick that just can’t seem to figure out how to eat chick starter. Pecks the ground/feeder/my hand with a closed beak. Currently on a liquid diet, I’m giving him drops of egg yolk three times a day, which is keeping him alive but it’s not a long term solution. How do I teach this dude to eat?! Any advice would be super appreciated

I would first, hold his beak open, and put some food in. DO that a couple times, and then start putting his beak in the food, to see if he'll open up that beak and eat
