chick feed question..

My 7 chicks are 10 days old and have ate through a 5 pound bag of feed ( more like 4 pounds because they are very wasteful

) The first time i bought feed there was a mix up at the feed store when i asked for medicated the bag was labeled wrong and they were out so i got un-medicated feed instead because the chicks were getting here the next day. i have to go buy more and was wondering can i switch them to medicated feed now or is it too late? if i can can i just totally switch it with no bad sign effects. i hope i can because i dont want to have problems with cocci. Thank you for any responses

Yes you can feed them medicated and it might be advantageous to do so as their exposure to cocci rises when they move about outside.

Also, with seven growing chicks, get the 40 or 50 lb bag. They'll gobble through it in a month. Enjoy your chicks.

Ok thanks I will get a bag of medicated now. is there any reason that i shouldn't feed medicated for the rest of the time they need starter feed or is is meant to be fed for that long. Sorry im new to all this.
