Chick is 2 and a half days old and still won’t stand or dry out

HOw long has it been since that chick hatched? If it's been more than 48 hours, chances of it being a viable chick at this point are poor. I would get it out of the bator if it's been 48 hours, and keep it in a brooder.

Absolutely, and especially if you have other chicks hatching. Putting her in the brooder will actually help her fluff up more, b/c you'll be getting her out of that humid incubator. You will need to see to it that the brooder is warm enough, but not too warm. She will be running out of yolk reserves, and if she does not start eating and drinking normally right away, she is going to die, no matter what you do.

I also have this but I’m not going to use a whole gallon of it I was wondering how much I could use just for a couple chick or should I just make a gallon and give some to my hens

I use 1/8 teaspoon to a quart waterer. Close enough.

And definitely agree with Lazy Gardener. Transfer the chick to the brooder. Some of the unfluffiness may be stiffness from high humidity. The chick will preen and fluff up very quickly.

Update: the little guys sibling hatched! Didn’t take nearly as long, came out of the egg trying to stand and is sitting upright, wasn’t nearly as lathargic and is trying to walk! I put the other chick in the brooder, it drank and ate well, still can’t stand well but it’s trying! Thanks for all the help!

Update: the little guys sibling hatched! Didn’t take nearly as long, came out of the egg trying to stand and is sitting upright, wasn’t nearly as lathargic and is trying to walk! I put the other chick in the brooder, it drank and ate well, still can’t stand well but it’s trying! Thanks for all the help!

I don't hold out much hope for your first chick... if it isn't pecking at things yet... you need to cull, it is starving to death slowly.

Once you are sure the sibling is going to thrive ( still need to see the digestive system is working), I would grab another chick from the feed store as a buddy if that is an option for you.

The whole wait until the chicks is fluffy before moving them thing is assuming that your hatch was normal and your babies don't have egg stuff all over them. Those with egg stuff may never naturally fluff up because it can be like cement.

My first chick does peck at food, and does try to drink, when I hold it up, I’m going to see how it does in a couple days after taking the vita drench and some electrolytes, if it doesn’t get better I will cull

As long as it is trying, that counts!

And hopefully having a sibling buddy that is doing a little better will also encourage the first baby. It's amazing to see how different they are when they have friends than without.

I might crush the crumble a little extra for the first guy... and by might, I mean I do it for ALL my chicks for several days ever since my failed bantam shipment and someone gave me that tip which made a HUGE difference in my next bantam shipment. Even my large fowl chicks seem to like the smaller bits. I often see them pick the larger pieces and spit back out. Don't forget to do little whistles (whatever chick imitation you use) and drop pieces to pique interest or drag your finger through making the pieces jump around a little like little tasty bugs. Even moistening a little feed might make it easier to go down...

ETA: make sure the first chick can scoot around in and out of heat as needed... some aren't initially smart enough to find their way back under and need some direction several times.

#1 is being sat up in a little dish, try’s to eat and drink, been helping. We used a wet q-tip to try to get him to fluff up more. it’s been starting to get use to its legs. Also it looks like the chick has curled toes, I was wondering what I could do to help
