I got some new chicks to add to our current flock today, and we’ve already lost one chick due to a poor decision on my part. Right now one is displaying odd behavior, where she’ll be standing there, then start leaning back before catching herself and quickly leans over. Also, a few times it looked like she was lurching or trying to throw up. I dipped her beak into the water (which has probios, corid, and acv) and she drank. Sometimes I’ll watch her and she won’t do it, but more often she does this weird thing. Anyone know what’s going on?

:frow Hi.
I'm sorry your chick is not well.
Can you post some photos of your chick, the poop and housing?
If you have video of how she acts that may be helpful - for video upload to youtube, provide a link.

How old is your chick?
What are you feeding, including any treats?

You are treating for Coccidiosis? I see you mentioned that you have Corid, ACV and Probios in the water? If you are treating with Corid that should be the only thing in the water. Eliminate the ACV and Probios. (what dosage of Corid are you using)
See that she's eating a balanced poultry starter and drinking well.

Is her crop emptying completely overnight - you mention that it looks like she's trying to throw up?

Sorry!! I’m trying to insert an image and I’ll try to get a video, but here’s the place I have them in. I have a red and blue light and a heater to make sure they’re warm. I emptied the water and replaced it with water and corid only. I was able to get her drinking and after a few minutes she drank by herself which I guess is a good sign. I give them dumor chick starter and I’m not sure how old they are...

How hot is it in the brooder?
You have a heater, a blue and red light? Are the red and blue lights both heat lamps too?

Chicks only need one warm spot in the brooder, the rest needs to remain cool. A general guideline is to provide one warm spot that is 90-95F the first week of life, then drop by 5F each week. That is just a guideline - behavior is a good indicator if chicks are comfortable. If they try to avoid the light they are too hot, if they huddle underneath they are too cold - you want them somewhat spread about and moving during waking times. Chicks usually sleep in a pile.

Also not sure about the funky color of lights there - I would go with the red one and eliminate the blue unless the blue is absolutely needed for heat. Same as the heater, turn that off unless the chicks are cold.

If you are going to give medication like Corid (which only treats Coccidiosis) then it's best to give the correct dosage. Dosage is 1 1/2 teaspoons Corid powder or
2 teaspoons of 9.6% Corid liquid per gallon of water.Give for 5-7 days - make sure this is the ONLY water available during that time period. Mix a fresh batch at least once a day.
