Chick with hurt leg! Please help! I have a little boy who loves her!

My nephew found one of our chicks with a hurt leg. Idk how to tell if it might be broken or dislocated. She didn't mind me feeling her leg but her foot tremors, and I'm guessing its from pain. Can anyone tell me how to tell whats wrong with her, and what I might be able to do to help her.

How old is the chick?

Are there any other symptoms? (Runny nose, ruffled down, wheezing, pasty butt, diarrhea)?

Does she try to bear weight on the leg and foot?

Does the foot react when touched? (Curling in reaction to touching bottom pad?)

It could be a lot of things from systemic weakness from illness to slipped hock.

It is unlikely the chick broke it unless you are dealing with an older bird that is trying to learn to fly or hopping down from distances. Birds don't seem to break legs easily, chicks even less so.

She is about a month a month and a half old.

She doesn't have anything symptoms.

She doesn't try to put weight on in and this morning her toes on the hurt foot don't spread and the point forward. She hops when she walks where she isn't putting weight on that foot.

She is still eating and drinking well, and chirping.

The foot looks swollen like it is sprained or broken. Placing the chick in a small crate to limit activity may help for a week or two. You may want to leave it alone, and watch it, or try to splint it with vet wrap strips, similar to a bumblefoot dressing, separating the toes. Just look it over to make sure there is nothing cut or scabbed on the underside.

I also agree....she is very likely a he with that much red comb at 4 to 6 weeks of age.

Just so you know for future reference because I just received this advice for my lil girl that is injured. It's working perfectly. My girls thigh is broken though. I have taped a stick on it to stabilize her thigh (you can't see in the pic).
