Chick with unabsorbed yolk and maybe intestines hanging out, please help!! *graphic photos*

Thank you, I suspected as much to be honest, it's very small compared to the others that hatched.

I haven't culled a chick before, what is the best way to go about it? I've read about using vinegar and bicarb to create CO2, is that a humane way to do it?

Actually don't do that, that suffocates the chick to death with carbon dioxide. A buildup of carbon dioxide in the body is what drives you to draw a breath, so as you can imagine the chick would be aware it's suffocating and that's not a good way to go.

If you want to go with a method that's similar but humane, pick up some starting fluid that contains ether. Ether used to be used as an anesthetic in veterinary medicine, and it simply puts the chick to sleep, and then it dies peacefully, unaware that anything is going on.

I agree with @Pyxis I would not use the Vinegar/Baking soda method.
I have not used the starter fluid method either so can't say how well that works.

For tiny chicks like that I cut the head off. Not for everyone, but it's quick and I don't have to go find any special supplies.

Yes, I think this might be the way to go, I'm not great at stuff like that, I'm always scared I'll do it wrong and cause more pain, but my husband is home soon and will do it for me.

Thank you everyone for your advice, I really appreciate it.

I'm very sorry about your little chick:hugs

I've used ether/starting fluid. It works well for the young chicks and it's nicer on the humans than decapitation.

Thanks for the tag @Wyorp Rock Sorry Im late . Yes, as Banty said, the intestines are looking necrotic. I use my hand held tree /limb trimmers. I cuddle the little til it goes to sleep then slip them under there and squeeze hard and fast.

I agree, this latest photo shows look like the darker area you are seeing is dead bowel, sadly it will get worse until the chick eventually dies on its own or you intervene and help it out. I have never had to cull a chick so I'm no help there. I'm very sorry.
