If you aren't particular about getting production reds, almost any hatchery will have them. If you want pure RIR, probably ought to find a breeder (check your state thread) or once you have 20 posts, you can use the buy-sell-trade forum they might have RIR's there.

Well mine are pretty, but they will be seven months old on the fifteenth and only two of nine are laying. My rocks and EE are laying so I don't know what those problem is that they are not laying all but two now have red combs and waddles. Any suggestions?

Not sure. My pure heritage RIR's start laying later than the hatchery birds. Mine have just started laying they are 6 and 7 months but I'm not sure if it is my RIR's or my Rhode Island Whites that have started as I have both in the same coops and pens.I haven't seen who has been laying yet. Out of 100 youngsters I am now getting 3 eggs.

Good grief that is worse than mine. Mine came from a local who breeds several breeds, but I don't know how much heritage and how much hatchery blood is in them. Frankly, I think is is because they hatched April 15

The two dark ones on the.left look heritage to me but that could just be the shadow and rhe three lighter look more hatchery. But again, could be shadow. Are they actually darker?
