Chicken Genetics Blog

Here's this funky girl.
Had Blue Partridge Down. She's from a Splash Duckwing hen.

That would explain the d’Uccle mix having it.
Is e^bc really a thing? I thought it was but then I saw the Henk commentary on it that makes me think it’s just partridge.View attachment 3904559
It's likely ab with modifiers. It's only found on buttercup and related breeds. Dr. Ron Okimoto sequenced it and found no difference in the coding regions.

Glad to see I was right about autosomal red. I saw some experts say other things and I thought “that can’t be right” so I just spoke out of instinct.
I saw Mr. Reeder also said red junglefowl are red duckwing (having mahogany) and I believe they are actually gold duckwing.
Gold Duckwing for RJF.

Then hen pictured is clearly a e+/eb heterozygote, Pg will not change The salmon breast. Chick down is also clear indicator of e+/eb heterozygotes.

Also on The effect of Pg on Wheaten(e^Wh), by itself Pg has no effect on Wheaten. Melanotic, Pg and Charcoal are responsible for the double lacing on Wheaten. Pg on itself can only affect eb(partridge pattern), it has no effect on eWh, e+, ER or E.

Second Edit.

ER Based lacing requires Db and Co working in unison to restrict all of the Melanizers to the edge of the Feather. (ER on itself its powerful melanizer). Spangling lacks Co.

Oh, okay

Wow, how did I miss that? I actually thought they were the same except for the base all along and never knew about the db

So does single lacing on wheaten use charcoal as well?
