Found out what is was that got my chicken!!! A CAT!!!!!!!! My mom saw it this morning in the yard after hearing the girls squacking. It was outside of the cage. How do you get rid of a cat???

Oh no, I am so sorry. Get a Have-a-heart trap. Live trap....put some tuna or wet cat food in there, and set it by the coop. If you bait it they will come! LOL
Then just take cage and all to the local animal shelter. Good luck, I hope you get that nasty little critter.

Where do you get the traps from? Are the free?

Are you sure it got your bird? It would have to be a very large cat and a smaller bird I would think. My bird tower over my cat.

normal size cat, to an 9 week old silkie. I def. think the cat could handle it for sure. She was tiny. Its the ONLY predator I have ever seen around here, and plus the fact that it was at the coop this morning looking at everyone. If I catch that stupid thing im driving it down the road about 20 miles and letting it go, then im getting a baby monitor to listen. I cant afford to lose $15 chickens, and the other ones are $50 a pair, I just cant afford it! I have 3 cats of my own, so I m for sure a cat lover, but....what do you do?

Contact the shelter and see if they loan out their traps ...some have you put a deposit down on them but its worth it...just a thought

It might have been the cat, but just because its the only preditor you've seen doesn't make it the only preditor. Most preditors are nocturnal and hunt while we sleep.

Try tossing a layer of flour on the ground along the perimeter of your run and check for prints the next morning, you might be surprised by the amount of traffic you get from animals you never see.
