Chicken Haiku

Yeah, my coop actually got bigger and bigger in the planning stage before I even built it. Good thing, I have extra capacity in case chicken math does hit me.
I’m glad you did! I regretted my small coop before it even arrived and I’m trying to figure out how to extend it. Ordered the correct amount for the size, but I already want more!

I bought a coop/small run combo with laying nest wich was too small. It was quit easy too add an extension by opening one side of the run. The small coop with laying nests (2 for 8 hens) is still in use. The small run is for food/water and stretching the legs. The extension has room (roost place and place to bath 🛀 ) for max 10 bantams.

Smart move! My coop and run are A frame, may need to add a side box that goes lower to accommodate without messing up the existing roof. Lots of good ideas on here!

Peck, you have to wait.
Just until I had enough....
Eating all the corn.

What??? Me???

Count the eggs today,
broken shells and yolks are found,
egg eater in coop!

Yeah, I've got a problem 3 days running. Any advice appreciated...
How nasty. I read somewhere that fake eggs of stone can help.

I have some wooden eggs in the nest box. Currently collecting real eggs many times per day to see if that helps. If not, I may try loading up an egg shell with a water/mustard/cayenne pepper solution and seal it with some wax. Nasty surprise to any hen thinking they will be getting a tasty treat by eating the egg. Saw it on YouTube, so might give it a try if egg eating persists.

Anyway, thanks for the nice haiku. BTW, for some reason, my hens will no longer eat whole kernel corn. It has to be broken up into smaller pieces or they just leave the whole kernel corn alone.
