Chicken Haiku

I once had a young poulet jump up to the top of the wire fence where the bird netting on top pinned her in place. She was miserable until I was able to untangle her and put her back down in the run. Only time any of my birds ever tried to pull that stunt, and I still don't understand how she managed to trap herself. Probably a haiku somewhere in that story.

Look there, an insect
I, the chick, will win the hunt
It is but a leaf

Inspired me to write....

Scratch and peck for food
Found some worms and bugs today
Feed until I sleep

I know many people here on BYC forums will relate, but Chicken TV is a real thing and I find it relaxing just to watch the girls being chickens, hunting for food, scratching and pecking, not sharing anything they find to eat....

Wow! There's a Netflix series waiting to be written. I've never heard of that before.

It happens a few other folks on BYC have hens they have to keep away from other birds. She is fine unless confined with one. She was always the fighter type in my yard... so despite her breed she is a dominate bird and will only show submission towards humans.
