Chicken killed a mouse!

Hope it was a small iguana...I hate to think of a 6 foot adult being chicken food...

Oh yeah, I've seen my chickens eat mice,skinks,lizards, green tree frogs

, once saw one eat a baby copperhead & any other small snake they come across.

ive seen mine grab a toad,, and all 30 others chasing the chicken with the toad,,, they all want it,,,,,,,,,,,,,till they get it hehe then its like,,,,,"here, you have it" haha

Oh my 6 got a field mouse one day. It decided to cross through their tractor to travel on its way. the BA attacked it first, called the girls and they annihilated the mouse. I felt sorry for it...for about a split second. I took it away from them.

They kill moths, lizards, flies and one is a bee killer. LOL They are funny to watch chasing down a lizard.

I've heard of chickens eating mice. Mine will chase anything that lands in my yard away. The birds can use the birdfeeder but the second any bird hits the ground, it gets chased off. Only the dogs can roam around without being harrassed by the chickens. They'll even give my neighbors an ear full if they're by the fence area of my yard.

they also let my dogs know when they need backup. any ruckus from the chickens causes all my dogs to bolt out the doggie door to their rescue, even if the chickens are just excited about the egg they just laid.

My silkies killed & ate a bat! I saw them with something so I ran out to try & save it. Thought it was a baby bird. It wasn't but it was too late to save the little guy anyway-it was declared DOA (dead on arrival). I let them have it. If it's smaller than them & can't run faster, it's lunch.

wanna see fast,,, my 10 big guineas chasing a grasshopper that thinks it can outrun em,,,,they stretch their necks out and RUN,, they look like the roadrunner on the cartoons ,, necks straight and going 45 mph.

We talk a lot about predators in this forum, and sometimes forget that chickens are pretty fierce predators in their own right. DNA analysis shows that they're directly descended from dinosaurs. Our breakfasts are being laid by little tyrannosaurs.

Chickens are omnivores. They are meat eaters. Mice, lizards, frogs, bugs, worms, small snakes, etc are all on the dining menu. Some of the critters they eat I can't even imagine how they got their beak open wide enough to swallow but they do it. chickens are just little raptors. LOL
