Cherry, my 2 year old barred rock hen began limping yesterday. I brought her inside overnight to isolate her and let her rest in the hospital box. She has not improved any, and will not bear weight on the leg at all. There is no external sign of injury. She is eating normal commercial feed and mealworms and has not been laying, but none of our 4 are right now because they are molting.
I let her soak in an epsom salt bath this morning, and can see some swelling in the injured leg with her feathers wet.
Any ideas what I can do to help her besides rest and trying a sling? We do not have any avian vets close by.
