AAAWWWWWW, I bet she is beautiful!!!!I don't have any pictures of my mutt but she is a silkie×barred rock×blue polish cross thing. She ia roughly 4 months and still the size of a young chick, age has the polish head crest but silkie feathers and took her cross breed mothers small size gene and is itty bitty. She has blue feather with whitish faded barred rock pattern. She also has purple pink skin.....she is one ugly bird. I hope I can get a good picture because she is a sight to behold.
I love your chickies, they are really cute, and all different!!I dont care what I have... I dont mind mixes. They are just for fun!! I just took the comment as not so nice lol. In think they are cool looking chickens. =]
I think he is awesome! my oldest daughter wants silkies so very bad!
Quote: I don't blame her, I love my silkies!! I have 2 that came from show quality parents, the other 2 are mutts!! Winter being one of them. My first chicken was a silkie (well, I got 2 that day, one was my BCM roo that got killed by neighbor's dog.)
Quote: That goofball will never crow with anyone around!! No way I could video or record it, I have tried several times.....sorry, I'll try again, he's a smart little guy!!
I don't do anything to keep them clean, we have just had no real rain lately, so the dry dirt just falls off, I guess...pretty cool lookin' dude! How do you keep his feather SO white? My light colored chickens look like dirt balls! He does have a tinge of yellow in his hackles, i think that is from the corn in his feed, though, because when I changed feed, it started doing that.![]()
I believe by the way he is shaped, his comb, and everything that he is silkie x white leghorn.
Just my best guess, as he looks so much like my leghorn hens. I got him from the 'assorted bantams' box at the local feed store last spring. I did also get my Mille Fleur D'Uccle hen and a Golden Sebright roo at the same time, from the same box, and I believe they are purebred.
Not show quality, but pretty true to type.
Glad you guys like Winter, he is sort of the 'court jester' in that coop![]()
I think they are chickens!!!!
Pretty lady!
My new mutt I took in today. The barnyard she came from had waaaaay to many kinds for a newb like me to sort out! I saw ton of the lacewing patterns on the bully roosters that were there lol. Her feathers glisten a green iridescent color I had only seen in ducks before! Lol Hopefully my girls will accept her in time.
