I was stunned when I first read about it.

wow! and the way our spoiled chickens are treated, I'm sure ours will live long, as long as no predators interfere! LOL they are treated like kings/queens.

My daughters chickens are named Lenny (the roo), Addora, and Princess. She is just 4 and come up with those names on her own. Then we have Daphney, Velma, Baby, Miracle, Olive, Sunshine, Raven, Penny, Charlotte, Scarlett, Allie, Winnie, Cheddar, Grapes (another one named by my little girl!), Cinnamon, Brutus, and a few others still need names.

I have a few special chickens that have names. It usually is like there breed.. Bardo a Barred Rock. Brahma.... A light Brahma. The rest are just called the girls. But the White leghorns have there own names. White Evil Leghorns. Everything I have tried I can't keep them in there run....

While every one of our 21 red sex link girls looks distinctly different, very early on my DH deemed them all "Sallie". Really, I have no idea why.
The roo is "Trigger" due to his palamino mane, which reminded me of the palamino stallion Roy Rogers rode. Don't worry, we don't plan on stuffing him...so long as he stays nice;)

I have one un-named rooster.

My guinea's are not named, and my ducks also don't have names yet. One of those groups are going to be named after Zodiac signs, and one will be spices.

It looks like you have a Red Star(yes, a red star) rooster! They look nothing like the females, but believe it or not, he's a red star(also known as a red sex link) thats how you can tell the difference between genders with this breed. Male is light, female is more brown.

I'm not sure if you knew that, but it sounded like you didn't know what breed he was. hope thsi helps!

Yeah, he's been a bit of a mystery. Originally I thought he was a red star rooster, however, on feathersite the pictures of rsr's do not show a rooster with that kind of buff colored ruff. They look a lot more like a Delaware throwback. The ambers had that buff color and mottling on the back. Then again, the feathersite pictures are sometimes a little blurry.

Thanks!
