Chicken Names!

Naming chickens helps when you need to discipline them. You know Bandit go to your roost right now and don't come down until I tell you!!!! Leopard if you don't lay an egg I'll cook you with some!!! You know stuff like that. Otherwise they all get shamed and you can't get your point across to them!!!

It is much easier to teach them sign language so you don't have to yell.

I must too be a grumpy bear. I don't name mine either.

That said, let's not call each other names just because we don't all see our birds as just pets, or just livestock.

And Fizzyzow, I do suggest looking into the search function some. In the past few days you have numerous threads on the similar topics.

Have fun, hope you get some chicks soon!

Well I started out with names only cause we had 3 & didn't plan on getting more. But then we got a few more, & then more, & then the name thing stopped! :lol:LOL

The ones that have names are:
Rocky the roo
Pearl
Topaz
Violet....those are my OE banties

then there is
Hank the crazy mutt roo. His brother Henry I gave him away.

One of my new baby Silkies had curled toes so I put bandaids on her feet & she looked like she had duck (paddle) feet so I call her Paddington or Paddie for short....

My dad is raising them to enjoy and get eggs from, and also to sell. We plan on hatching eggs from the hens, too this spring.

Right now, we are planning on keeping these chickens we have for eggs and breeding, until they finally die from old age, or some other natural cause, such as predators(I'm hoping that doesn't happen though) then we will put them to rest peacefully in the little animal grave yard. And we plan to sell the chicks that we hatch to people who will take care of them.

But anyways, those are the names of the chickens. We named the black am. chick "Raven" because she is black and she looks like a crow, but Raven would be a better name then "crow" LOL
