Chicken pecked badly, need advice!

Pics
@KRack Hi! I was thinking about you two today!

It looks like there's still some inflammation, don't get discouraged. Can you carefully wipe off the ointment on her face? Can you post a picture of her wound?

That picture is from the other day, before cleaning off the ointment. I’ve done that and haven’t reapplied. I can try to clean the eye with saline tomorrow and a q-tip and see how it goes. I’ll grab some more pictures tomorrow too.

How long did it take your Roo to heal up enough to be outside @SmiYa0126 ? I assume she’ll be with me inside all winter, but I was just curious.

@KRack he inside with me for a month and a half

Does she seem more peppy? Have you had get outside at all?

Thank you! He’s so cute!!

No she’s not more peppy, and her breathing is still about the same. I cleaned her eye this morning and tried to force it a little, and it does seem like it could still open but is swollen.

There’s something going on in her throat, but idk what. Because I’m hand feeding her I’m not super concerned right now, I think I need to get through antibiotics, worming and probably the swelling going down enough that she can open her eye, and go from there.

But she’s not comfortable because of her eye, throat and general healing, and it’s obvious ☹️

Ok, so I stumbled on to this thread because I’m trying to figure out this hens eating problem. I caved and started worming her with the fenbendazole because she really started fighting me feeding her today. She only seems to struggle to breathe when she’s eating, I hear a lot of digestion noises when she eats, and she burps a ton, which I didn’t know chickens did. 🤔

Page 2 is where OP says it was sour crop even though her hens crop was emptying (as is my hens). Could this be what’s happening for my hen? If so, I can buy monistat or something but have never dealt with sour crop. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Advice??

@KRack Hmm, interesting, can you dose her with olive oil to see if she needs a little help to loosen anything in her gizzard? How's her poops?
Her poop has been fine. But she won’t eat now. I got some olive oil in her this morning, nothings changed so far. I opened her mouth and there is a block of some kind, I can see the food I tried to feed her sitting there, that she’s apparently unable to swallow.

What do I do now??
