That is great! How high on the air cell/egg shell is the crack? Long crack, short crack? I've seen on other threads where people have sealed them with wax, so good job to you finding a creative solution. Let me know how this one does...you've got my curiosity peaked.

I love the candling process in the first week...all the veinage and seeing that little black blob moving around. I have Wheaten Marans that are almost as dark as BCM's and of course, I can't see a dang thing...so I'm chewing my nails hoping they make it to lockdown!

It's a pretty bad crack, right on the top. When the egg arrived it was a spidery crack maybe an inch long but was not oozing - looked kind of 'internal' if that makes any sense. I candled it and saw more spider cracks surrounding it. So now there's a huge 'cap' of candlewax over the crack(s), covering an area maybe about the size of a quarter. I don't know if it will really hatch, but as it wasn't oozing I figured I'd pull it on day 5 if no development. Definitely an embryo! If it makes it to the next candle (10 days) I'll post a pic of the 'cap' - not sure what I will do when it tries to pip out tho!

Wow. If a chick hatches out of that egg, we're calling it Lucky!

I REALLY want some of your Lav Ams. I'm noticing on other auctions their Lav Ams look like Ameraucana crossed with an Orpington. Not correct at all.

You mean you don't want Lavender Ameraucanas with big butts and little heads? lol I thought I was the only one who noticed that, I was thinking "hmm, I could make Lavender Easter Eggers". Bad Idea! I have enough going on!

It is tempting to try to take shortcuts when making a designer project!

That was funny!

If anyone wants lavs they should go through Shaffer or buy from someone who has his birds.
