Chicken (Poultry) Addiction Anonymous *Chat Thread*

I am having a hard time with the amount of snow and cold here this winter. Every time I go out into the garage, several times a day, I see those 2 large cabinet incubators there collecting dust. Oh how I wish spring would come. I feel the need to incubate some eggs. I need fuzzy butts. The brooder sits idle in the cold barn.
Please, please, let spring arrive.

I know what you mean....I have NO business incubating more eggs, but just cleaned the cabinet hubby bought for me, gently used and a great price, did some major cleaning on it, a 3 day scrub and it's all up to temp and I'm saying.....MMMMMM.....what can I put in here.....I can at least fill 1/2 a tray...I should test it....LOL..... The only sad thing is that it has a solid door, but I will move them to a glass front hatcher "when the action starts!"!!!!

As soon as my girls started laying again in December, the eggs went into the bator! I'm focusing on what I really need...more Wheaten and Lav Ameraucanas, White Orps and BCMs. By the way...they are in the basement. Proof of my addiction.

I have to wait till spring. I promised. Last year I had the bators in the house and just went nuts hatching what ever I could. Mike, my DH, made the most wonderful brooder for me. He would carry the chicks out to the brooder and life was good. Well, there was a failure with the thermostat in the brooder and it overheated. ALL OF MY BABIES COOKED.

If it wasn't so cold out, we would have made more trips out to the barn and may have seen the disaster prior to the final outcome. So, DH has made a better brooder for me and I promised to never hatch while it is so cold out.

Well don't I feel like poo! So sorry you went through that. I was impressed with your self control, now I get there is most definitely a reason for it.

Lily's limping. I'm going to make her lay low and be pampered for a while away from her flock so she can't be tempted to run with them, but mom doesn't want her in the house (even if I make her a diaper) and the garage is occupied by Aspen and Quinn

I can't wait for my little chicks to grow. I am especially thrilled with what we've hatched so far this year...lots to look forward to this summer!
