Hello fellow addicts! Bad and good news!
BAD:
All thirteen of the Buff Orps drowned in the storm =/
GOOD:
We got five more BO hens for cheap and they should start laying in July or August! They were born on Valentine's Day, too!

That must be one BAD bantam hen, if you need that large of a chain to hold her!!!

sorry about that..

The first chick is OUT!!! She's peeping like heck and I know I'm not supposed to take her to the brooder until she's fluffed out, but she keeps on walking into other eggs. Should I take her out?

Conventional wisdom is to leave them in bator until they are dry and ONLY remove them if there are no pips in other eggs to avoid shrink wrapping the ones trying to hatch.
The good news is, the noise the first "born" is making is really her calling the others to come out and play. I'd leave her be for the time being and hope that when the second one hatches it will keep her company and she will calm down a LOT. Enjoy your chicks

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

21 babies out, 8 eggs haven't hatched. I moved the unhatched eggs to one of my sportsmans. I cleaned out my Hova-Bator and put more eggs in it.

21 babies! 21 days, 21 babies! It must be a sign!

But I don't know what for...
