Linda: I love how the number of chickens has already doubled from the original plan and she hasn't even picked out the ones she wants yet.

Yeah, me too. Hehehehehehehehhee.

Also, she first thought two of my TJs White Leghorns would be okay for her two LF because they're good layers, but after she delivered a dozen of my colorful eggs to her next door neighbor (who, btw, is the previous owner of my rescue hen Red) and the neighbor quickly opened the carton to see what colors of eggs I sent, she decided she would rather have colored egg layers for the FOUR LF. The bantams can be white egg layers, she said.

I took my friend 3 dozen colored eggs, but I think it took that neighbor's excitement about colored eggs for my friend to think what a joy it might be to share colored eggs of her own with the neighbor.

Good Morning Peepz!

What a lovely Morn'in!!

I zipped down to the mailbox this morning and picked up my Olive Egger eggs from Kelly, and my pair of Lavender Cochin Bantams. One of my OE eggs from a friend is zipping, 2 hatched yesterday and one the day before. A Splash colored Cochin baby hatched under a broody yesterday, and another baby hatched this morning/last night. It looks like a Self Blue ( Lavender ), it's so cute!

My favorite chicken, Beepbeeb went missing and I thought she had been killed, but she popped up the other morning and she was all fluffed up and clucking like a mad momma (

) so I figure she has a nest somwhere out in the pasture.

I'm getting more Peafowl Eggs this weekend, I already have 3 cook'in in the GQF, I'm hopeing they'll be a few more than 3 this time. One of my Buff Orpingtons went broody last week and the person(s) who were taking care of them didn't take her eggs away so I'm going to have More BO babies at the end of this month!

I have some neighbors coming over sometime today, they're going to come look my chickens over and decide which kinds they like. Then I'll start some eggs for them next week.

Oh my word, I can't believe how fast my little chicks are growing!

Ok, I just joined BYC the other day. I'm new to chickens, and am soooo addicted! I love animals. I have a horse, 3 dogs, 3 cats, aquarium full of fish. Finally talked my hubby into letting me get chicks. I picked out 12, and he said well OK then can I get 2 ducks? But of course!, and picked out a Pekin and a Khaki Campbell. So.... that was last week. I saw an ad in the local paper for a chicken farm that had all kinds of chicks. So my Mom and I went on Sunday...shhhh .... hubby was at work. I came home with 2 americaunas, and 3 speckled Sussex, and planning on going back in a few weeks after they have hatched some Lavender americaunas. At that time I had 17 chicks. Well, today the local feed store just happen to have gotten some new chicks in this AM.... americaunas and RIR. My car just turned in there instead of driving by. It was my lunch break, after all. I came home with 3 more Americaunas and 1 RIR. Now the total is 21. Did I happen to mention that I also have ordered some from Welp's that will be coming in May?!?!?! Ummmm...I ordered 25. My husband might kill me....but I think he will love them.

And now I saw this thread, and I feel so much better. I'm not crazy after all. Slightly abnormal? It's definitely alot of fun.......whatever I am. Glad to know I'm not by myself.

Check out the "chicken math" thread. (you can find it using search at top of page) It'll explain a LOT to you and help you explain how 12 became 50 in such a short time.

Ok, so I read up on the chicken math. I like chicken math. It definitely serves my purpose. As of right now, I don't have any chickens, just chicks, and they don't count. Some of them will be roos, I'm sure, so that will make me have even less. I want to get some cochins and silkies from my friend for pets. So since they will be pets, they won't count either. Yep, I like chicken math....
