Is it wrong that my hubs and in are thinking about buying a new house so we can keep a rooster? Right now we live in a rural subdivision, but I recently hatched some eggs and whaddaya know... out popped a rooster. Hes the sweetest thing ever. We all love him. No name yet, but he just perches on our shoulders and watches ad we go about our business. I just love my chickens.

Not wrong at all! I have several roosters. But I'm in a rural area and roosters are fairly common.

Nothing wrong with that thinking at all. Go for it before houseing prices increase again.

PS It'll give you more room for more chickens. Ducks are a LOT of fun and most breeds don't need water to swim in, just deep enough dish to wash out their nostrils daily. (I hear runner ducks lay 250-275 eggs a year, better than my Lav Ameruacana chickens)

I haven't thought about Ducks yet. They don't need much water huh? Although a pond would be nice...hmmm.....

And ducks can stay in the coop with the chickens, they don't use the roost so there's plenty of room! Enable, enable, enable ......

LOL. Way to go.

And my ducks DO live with the chickens. I can't get them to go in their own hut. Sigh.

Muscovy ducks don't quack, btw. Mine think they are dogs and follow right along with the chickens behind me. I think need a flute. LOL

What do duck eggs taste like? Are they much different from chicken eggs?

I think its really cool both ducks and chickens can stay in the same coop! it sure makes you think about it....

Hi guys, I was "off" the wagon for 2 years, I relapsed this spring, luckily I still had my old coop (I learned from past experiences not to throw away) I started with 4, now Im up to 10, but i figure... whats 2 more ...make it an even dozen, isn;t there a bakers dozen thats 13???

I just got a hatch out of my incubator. It will be okay until around January.

But secretly I want to do another one really soon. My only problem is a place to put them if I did. Maybe I can figure something out. No not yet I just sold off my breeding roosters and waiting for the replacements to mature some.

I'll be okay.
