That is wonderful!

I am working on the feed store and the pet store to sell some of my chicks! No one wants to carry chicks until springtime! They will have a nasty surprise when they do finally order their chicks ("around Easter") and find that I have already stocked the entire county with chicks! Mua-ha-ha

I love it!

I just had the Deputy Sheriff stop by my house. My neighbor's dog (golden retriever) came on my property and tried attacking my alpacas...she barked her fool head off and charged the fence and gate trying to get at them. My boys were scared and kept trying to run away from her. She ran laps around their enclosure. This same dog has attempted to kill my chickens in the past. I blame myself for letting this go on so long. The neighbor went through her second bout of breast cancer 3 years ago, so I forgave her ignorance and excuses. She has been in remission for 2 years now, and lays blame to everyone else. She told me it was my fault her dog wants to eat the chickens...it is my fault she wants to chase the alpacas...and it is my fault her dog is ruining her own picket fence because she charges it wanting to get at my animals. No joke...she comes up with every excuse in the book and does not hold herself OR her dog accountable. Grrr....

My dogs stay on my property. They mind their P's and Q's. My chickens are fenced in (most recently cooped in completely) at the opposite end of my property AWAY from her property. My alpacas are fenced in the back of our lot. They make no sound...they are just "there".

The Deputy Sheriff said I have a right to protect my property/livestock and if I want to I can put the dog down. A bit extreme...but I can no longer allow this behavior and have my animals live in fear.

I initially placed a call to the Dog Warden...there is a leash law after all...the Dep. Sheriff said the dog warden never returns calls. He said he would make several calls for me and get her to do her job. I need to get this resolved.

Sorry for the rant...

My first response was to shoot them both, but that isn't really appropriate.

You sound like me, always trying to give people who have it rough the benefit of the doubt.

I think you have every right to rant and that dog needs to stay home or be placed where he will stay, either in a new home or 6 feet under!

Featherz...Erin wants to know how many EE's you want. Let me know so we can load you up!

Edited to add...she has 7 available.

THE SCIENCE FAIR IS COMING!

I get to hatch chicks! In about a week, I'll buy a dozen hatching eggs with six entirely different breeds and compare their growths as embryos. Then, when they hatch, I get to choose 2 to keep for my own flock! I'M SO HAPPY!

Wow! I love EE's. I will let you know tomorrow after my eggs come - if they all arrive intact and not frozen I might have to limit what I take just in case something hatched. My PO is not so good so we shall see. How old are these chickies? Are they pullets or straight run? I think it will be next to impossible to rehome roos at this time of the year

That is great! You get to do something that interests you AND will be able to continue raising your "project"! How cool.
