Could just be the chickies.

I knew my little silkie was an anomaly because all the others hatched EARLY. This one was just too far behind to make it.

Oh, also, I just saw in your other post that your leghorns are rosecomb! if you ever hatch out any rosecombed white leghorns, I want some! I have the usual floppy combed leghorns and while I love them (and their eggs) I don't like having to lube them up when it gets cold.

I can probably get eggs from my friend to send you. They are working on them...I think on brown leghorns, too. I'll check. They have beautiful buff leghorns. I will be getting a few of those for myself, but I'm not sure if they are breeding for rosecomb on them. I'll get back to you.

You have a Black EE and a Buff EE! I have 2 of the same from a hatch last weekend! BA/NH is Buff Ameraucana roo over New Hampshire hen and Blk Am/Blk is Black Ameraucana roo over one of the black hens that was in the pen...so the mom could have been a Black Australorp/ Black Jersey Giant/ or Black Langshan. If it has feathered feet it is part langshan...they lay a more purpley brown egg, so I am hoping something amazing comes from the cross. If it is clean legged the mom is likely the Australorp or JG...which means an excellent layer and/or potentially LARGE EE. I personally love the EE's...as I'm after the most colorful egg basket!

Any more pips?

Firstly HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all the Birthday kids! I seem to recall that several birthdays were on today, including my co-local co-poultry addict, DAISY CHICK!

I have 3 eggs that are due today, they were all active on day 16, so here's hoping!

I THINK one of them was rocking this morning when I left the house!

I locked down 8 eggs yesterday from Lanae Cash of Cash's Blue Eggs in California! There are 3 Splash ARAUCANAS and 5 EE mixes! Her eggs (and birds) are so pretty!

I want more chicks to hatch!

I got my email from Ideal Poultry last night, stating my chicks were in the mail!

7 Assorted Polish S/R

3 Spitzhauben Pullets

1 Ideal 236 Pullet

1 RC Brown Leghorn Pullet

3 Assorted Longtail Straight Runs

And HOPEFULLY some "Packing Peanuts"! I want free chicks! Ooh, MAYBE they will put an extra of each of the ones I ordered, just in case!!!!!

My chickens all survived the bitter cold, I am tired of changing waterers every few hours, but they only freeze when it gets sub-zero, which it seldom does here!

I had to move both of my incubators onto the kitchen table, Mom & Dad are out of town (shhh, don't tell)! It was WAY to cold in the room they were in, and the incubators were heating constantly to keep 98 degrees, but I was impressed, I just did not want to burn the elements out!

Hi my name is chickie fam and I am new to chickens and BYC. I got 10 chicks 2 weeks ago and found out they were all cockerels so my DH let me order 6 Delaware pullets from MPC but what he doesn't know (

yet) is that I ordered 10 and plan to be ordering more once these chicks arrive! I can't help it, the little fuzzy butts are just so cute and have lots of personality already and my DD loves looking at them (although she is a bit young to be touching/handling them yet) Also plan to start hatching eggs next springtime!!

Thanks for the B-day wishes.

I have about 12 chicks out and 1 zipping and 3 other pipped! This is a good hatch for me. Great way to spend my b-day! They are mostly my eggs, but it really gave me a good idea on the workings of my new Brinsea so I can venture out and hatch some shipped eggs. I am feeling more confident in my hatching ability.

I am getting some really cool chicks from my little designer mix. I have a Lavender Ameraucana roo over 1/2 silkie and 1/2 Ameraucana hens. So far I have got about 1/2 black and 1/2 lavender chicks. The lavender looking chicks seem to have silkie like feathers. I am excited to see how these turn out!
