Thank you! That makes me feel better!

I too, had a hatching frenzy! I had eggs that I had no idea where they came from or when they were set, just cryptic codes penciled on the egg with random numbers, maybe laid on date, maybe set date or maybe hatch date! Or maybe Lockdown date! At one point I grabbed a dozen out of the fridge and set them!

After I "went broody" I will never try to stop a hen from going broody! Have at it, girl, I feel your pain!

Lordy. The last batch of brooder chicks were in the ginormous brooder in the shed, and I started with 33 of them. Made some serious mistakes and lost a few before I was able to put them outside into grow out coops. (Thought it would be too "stuffy" in the shed all closed up so I left one door open and the drafts picked off some chicks over the 8 weeks. There were five BOs in amongst the other chicks and only one survived, for example. Lost three Speckled Sussex. Lost some bantam lav orps, too.) Had to put the rest out into their grow out coops in two batches.

A BYCer friend ID'd a Barnevelder pair in one batch. Got a great little Cochin roo - he crowed at 3 weeks. There's a BR, for sure. I have one adorable chick I THINK is a bantam dark Brahma.

There were 3 chicks like Little Bit hatched, but one died two nights after being outside (cold snap?) and one has simply gone missing. Which is odd.

Anyway, an older hatch: six Jersey Giants - 3 splash, 2 blue and 1 black. My first hatch: six Olive Eggers, of which two pullets have gone to live with other BYCers. I've also given away a Light Brahma and either an Australorp or a BJG pullet, to the same two BYC friends. But I took in two pullets in the interim, one from a BYCer and one as a rescue.

..and I am guessing I am halfway through the rest of the flock with this list.

See why I said I couldn't catalog my flock?

A frizzled Cochin pullet (Fritzie) and a Salmon Favorelles cockerel (Yul) were in the house infirmary for a while together and are still BFFs outside. 3 huge, gorgeous Lav Orp pullets. Two little bantam black/gold splashed cochin cockerels: Frick and Frack.

So far, I'm only up to the birds I've hatched! Oh! 4 call ducklings, I hatched those, too.

My brain hurts.

We're owning up to how many chickens we have?

Not including the 29 in lockdown, 48 in two other bators, 35 in the brooder, 20 bantams...I only have around 60 chickens!!! Really, only the LF count.

I will own up to chicken numbers. 29 assorted chicks in brooder and 45 full grown outside. 2 dozen eggs coming in the mail next week, and more for the Easter Hatch coming in April. Oh and a chick order coming Mid March and pair of goslings coming tomorrow hopefully! That is all.

I am sure I have left out a few. After everyone grows out there will be a tiny bit of thinning out.

Oh...are we supposed to include waterfowl? I have 2 sets of ducks coming. Gulp. I am thinking I should cancel my McMurray duck order. I'll have 14 coming from Holderread's in April, and it's just easier starting out with quality over hatchery. I think I ordered 12 from McMurray. Indecisions.

Lesse.. I have seven in one coop (4 RIR, three white leghorns).. they were born in May. I have nine in my large coop - two EE, two lt. brahma, SLW, Australorp, two BLRW and one Cochin roo. I have four MF D'uccle's in another portable coop. 13 chicks in a brooder (which I will sell once I can guess gender - I'll keep a couple) and four five week old mutt chicks. So I have .. hmmm 37, with probably 9 or 10 to be rehomed.

Not too bad, but I DID order 25 chicks for march. Not sure if I'll cancel or not yet!
