Chicken (Poultry) Addiction Anonymous *Chat Thread*

Only 3 more days until lockdown for my Serama eggs.

Really getting excited!

I moved 10 baby buttons, 7 baby chicks, and Mrs. Fluffy Puffy out of my room today. Now only Buddy & Bella and my poor lonely incubator are in my room. Hopefully by Sunday I'll have new fuzzy butts though!

Needless to say I'm going to sleep a whole lot better tonight.

Yay! How many eggs are there?

Today was a turning point for my addiction. I sold both of my incubators, one of which had 18 Maran eggs, 4 WCB Polish eggs, 5 BBR Phoenix eggs and some other mix eggs in it. All of the batches were set on different dates, but the buyer seemed to understand using the second incubator as a Hatcher.

Freedom! I was getting over-run with chicks and Ideal emailed me today, apologizing for my loss on last weeks shipment and offering to re-ship replacement chicks with my order for 2 geese, 3 giants and 3 Madagascar Games!

I currently have 14 Ideal chicks and 10 hatched chicks in the brooder, 8 Ideal pullets and 1 Lavender Ameraucana that hatched in the romper room and 15 chickens in the hen house. My order with the geese will be here Friday!

I need to build a goose brooder and I would LOVE to see pictures if anybody has any pictures of geese brooders or duck brooders and any tips or do's or don'ts for raising geese!

I am off to research that! Goodnight all!

Let me know what you find out for brooding geese. I'd like to learn through you.

Congrats on selling your incubators...I didn't realize you were selling them full!?! I hope that person has a great hatch.

He may have sold his bators, but he still has those "enabling tendencies" . He returned hatching eggs to me 14 days incubated.

They are stuck under my broody hen at the moment. Oh and he has this thing about ordering chicks and geese and asking me if I want to split an order. Like I could pass up deals like that.

So now I too am researching how to brood and raise geese.

BUSTED! I only returned them to you so you could (hopefully) get a couple more Lavender Chicks (and slip me a few of the "rejects"). I had NO ulterior motives WHATSOEVER!

I just couldn't take the stress of another hatch day! I really hope they ALL hatch for the new owner, but I feel NO sense of loss, only a great sense of relief! And my conscience is TOTALLY clear, she offered $200 (sight unseen) for the package, but I lowered it to $150. I felt 2 used Hovabators, and 40-ish eggs were only worth $150.

I am procrastinating going outside, but I am sure my waterers froze last night, so I NEED to go take the chickens a drink. Guess I better get a move on it!

I'm just playing with you! I hope I do get a few more lavenders from the eggs. Thank you for "returning" them. And I will slip you some rejects for sure. LOL! I am glad you are incubator stress free.

I think that lady got a heck of a deal! I must go outside also! But I love it! It is like the frozen tundra out there. I feel like I am on an Alaskan adventure on my way to the chicken coop. I love snow storms a really really lot!
