My little OE babies are growing up - so far, at two weeks, I see three little roos in there. Not sure about the rest. Anyone need a Splash OE roo? Also have a Splash BLRW that looks manly man too.

Okay- not sure if I've said it here or not, but I currently have 5 baby Delawares in the brooder here- they'll be 3 weeks tomorrow.

I am hoping to get rid of some within the next two weeks- I would like to keep 2 pullets, MAYBE three, if I consider that manageable.

We will have BBS Ameraucana hatching eggs or chicks coming here soon, and will need to re-home those cockerels also.

My friend (Philadelphia Phlock) is sending up some unique birds to me...through another friend (bloominorchid) today. He has a Blue Ameraucana that is split to the silkie gene and a few little Sussex chicks split for coronation. Plus a Silkie Rooster from Hat Trick that was a mix of silkies...he's a neat looking bird, and somehow, I can't say no!!! Just when I was ready to place a craigslist ad and dwindle the flock! Just a little!

Please send us photos of the Hattrick Roo.....I can't wait to see what he looks like. By the way, you KNOW you can't part with your silkies, don't you? They're hypnotic, addictive, and too darn sweet!

I know!! Woot! Still pondering if I should do my coop cleanout this weekend.. it's going to freeze again in a few days, I believe. Hmmmmmmmm.. My run is still full of snow on one side and mud on the other. Blech.

Congrats on your new chickies.. I have been thinking of placing a CL ad myself although I think I will wait till I have a vacation (week of March 14). By then I should be able to sort out most of the roos and can decide whether I should keep my little MF D'uccle girls or not. All depends if I decide to keep an OE roo - don't want him to squoosh my sweet bantam girls.

I am thinking of starting a hatch that weekend also. I want an excellent hatch this time around, so no shipped eggs if I can help it. I'll get a dozen from somewhere localish (maybe I can meet up with mugs!) and throw in a dozen of my mutt eggs to see what happens. If I match a 'brown egg' roo with a 'green egg' hen do I end up with brown eggs?

Decisions!

I might be able to wrangle up some eggs for you! Around mid March? Just let me know where you want to meet!

Chick pictures - sigh!

This is eyebrows, Daisychick hatched this one, but gave it to me (with 6 others, b/c they weren't lavender)! Thank you! The buff Polish is trying to get its head in the way!

This one is a squawker! I suspect it is a roo, it has done this several times, it walks around the brooder, standing tall and squawking! Also showing a good shot of the Silver Phoenix on the left and dalmation behind the squawker!

I got this one with 9 others from a lady in Pueblo who ordered Ideal's Pullet Surprise!

And this one, I love it when they are sleeping, it seems to be the only time they hold still!!!!

This is 'Dalmation', preening away!

And, saving the best for last, my Lavender Ameraucana - 'Silver'!!!!!!

The 2" x 4" wire around the hardware cloth is keeping the 6 week olds on the other side of the brooder, but allowing the babies to escape to safety AFTER terrorizing the older kids! This way I only have 1 chick brooder!
