Probably a dumb question, but what is BYH? And 200???!!? Wow. Good luck!

Question, slightly off the previous topic, but maybe not: when can I put the eight chicks in the coop? I think for now they'd go in the bantam coop which has 2 cochin hens & 2 jb a hen and a roo. They are all approx 7-8 mos right now.

BYH = Back Yard Herds ...BYC sister site.

I'm working on improving my silkie flock and I need to add new blood. The only way I can afford to is to swap eggs with somebody that has better quality or some I can possibly get better quality than what I already have. The same would be ok because I would definatley keep it if it at least equaled what I have. Anyway. I would be more than happy to swap for silkie eggs. What I have are white, partridge, bbs pens. In the bbs pen I have a blue roo and a blue hen, 2 black hens one of which just one 2nd place in a show and her mother is better looking than her but she just finished a molt, and a lav splash hen in that pen. I would love to start a buff pen. I have a sizzle pen that is mixed color. I have a grey roo and a grey pullet, black pullet, white hen and 2 blue hens. The girls are all frizzled and the roo is a silkie. I have another one in there that i'm hoping turns out to be a calico or at least a partridge but she's just 3 months old. I have JB quail laying also. I get an egg or two a week from my mixed color oegb pen.

I would like to hopefully hatch out a black cockereal, white cockereal, splash cockereal, blue cockereal, buff cockereal and any pullets that may hatch are bonus'.

Anybody feel like doing some charity work and want to send some eggs just PM me and i'll send you my address. I spend winters hatching out chicks and in the spring I make my pics. I have a new neighbor that would love to have a couple of chickens to take care of. She's an elderly lady with nothing to do. I plan to give her a small flock once I know what sex they all are. She's a city girl turned country girl, like me. I wouldn't live in the city again. It's bad enough to have to go there to shop.

I'm sooooooooooooooooooooo booooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrddddddddddddddd. I guess I'll go to bed where you all are I guess.

X2! You've got me all curious!

A YoYo quilt is just a small piece of material that is a small circle, and then is sewn around the edges and then you just pull the thread until it makes sort of a "flower" shape..then you just tie a knott in it and there you are! Once you have a whole bunch of them made up you sew about 30 of them together to make a small quit for a doll bed. I haven't quite figured out how to sew them together yet, but I'm sure I will. I will post some pictures of them tomorrow if I can.

I only have 2 roos left...a buff silkie (hatched from Sundown Waterfowl) and a porcelain split (hatched from Kelar). I want to find them a new home. Everyone needs to come move to Central New York so we can trade with ease! Just saying!

They're a very fun little activity! Not to mention they make great gifts, etc.

I hope so, too.

We haven't had a good long raint since last October.

It's awful. The grass is all dead, there is hardly anything for the horses and cows to eat so we have to buy good alfalfa hay to feed them. *sigh*

Hello addicts. How are you doing? I'm not addicted myself, I just need to get me about 100 more chickens and that will start to feed my addiction.

Do I qualify as being addicted if I don't even have chickens yet - but have spent several hours every day this week reading everything on this site?? My husband thinks I'm going to start having seizures from staring at this screen so long. I'm just so anxious for him to get our coop ready already so I can buy my birds!
