Chicken ran off

one of my hens got spooked and ran into the woods. I’ve gone through the half acre behind my house and some of my neighbors, I didn’t see her and I can’t hear her. How do I get her to come back? I’m so upset, I was frustrated because I’ve had such a hard time getting her to go back into the run lately— this is all my fault.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Some hens can be loners, and difficult.
There is a chance she will come home to roost.

She came back… but only went into the coop because the other three were being loud settling in. I told her I hope she enjoyed herself because her supervised free range time has been suspended.

Glad that your hen came back. Is she or any the others new to your flock or coop?

If she is new, it may take a while to settle in and learn how far is good to go.

just a funny note...
I live in Maine and have 10 chickens and 5 ducks. I got home yesterday from work and there was not a flock to be seen or heard ANYWHERE!! We are building a new run and are waiting on the wire to come in- so they are all fancy free these days..... 1 chicken appeared after I began THE chicken call, then after 20 min or more or calling, the rest of the flock came running out of the forest behind my house! I had to check about 10 puddles in the forest around my house to find 3 of my ducks- both drakes fussing with each other instead of minding the ladies... my 2 pekins were nowhere to be found... I did find a spread of feathers tho and thought the worst! 2 hours later my 2 white ladies showed... I still have no idea where from.
They will torment you, but man, we love those birdies!!
