I have a friend that is battling health issues and is going to be traveling out of town for 3 weeks. She doesn't have the strength and stamina to secure her old dilapidated coop and run before leaving. I offered for her to bring her 6 chickens over with their tractor so we could care for them while she is gone.
My concern is that she had two geese that she got from the same hatchery one has died and the other one of sick. She took the young gosling (10 weeks old or so) to the vet and she doesn't think it will make it. The vet suggested that if and when he dies that she bring him back in to be tested to determine what his problem was.
Her young hens seem to be thriving. Should I be concerned about bringing some illness to my large 100+ flock?
