Hello New Hampshire peeps,

I'm still looking for heritage Barred Rocks. Does anyone own some they would be willing to part with two pullets or hens? Or perhaps a lead on someone in NH or VT with them?

Humm...by heritage I'm thinking they mean non-hatchery (excludes me too

), I could be wrong. There are a few threads on here with pics, the barring is different etc.

I didn't say Heritage... lol i said hatchery, and let her know if she wanted them i have them...

it's not a problem and thank you for correcting it :)

Yeah, wish I had some heritage. Not sure I'd want to deal with 50% roos from the hatches though.

Puglady have you heard of the old wives tale of Pointy egg VS round egg being male or female?

i tested it out of my hatches this year and i believe it's true... i placed a total of 80 eggs 15 pointed the rest round...

a total of 60 eggs hatched a lived, 13 pointed and the rest roundish
i had 13 roosters and the rest where all pullets! and it worked for my BR's, EE's and NHR's..

next year i will be trying to hatch just pointed eggs and the just rounded eggs and see what the hatch ends up being.

You may want to check out the Heritage Large Fowl thread over in Breeds. Someone there may be able to help you locate a breeder.

This link is to the last page in the thread. It is a long one.

Im going to be trying this as soon as i get the bator set up, but only doing the rounded eggs since i dont really want to try to find places to go for roos, its hard enough i have 2 of them and no one has contacted me yet!!!! my older roo is starting to take notice of them =(
