Chicken vent red and swollen, and yellowish inside. Stinks!

Okay, so Mikes falconry has some… for $40. With shipping it would be $50.

I looked on backyard chickens and found a page detailing ACV, wheat bran mash, yogurt, and epsom salt… I’ll try that first. I cant afford this, and the other supplements my birds have been needing. On top of that, I’ll continue the oregano as an antibiotic, and put garlic in her water… hopefully that will work. Anyone aware of other natural remedies I can try? Essential oils are one thing I have plenty of on hand, and diluted the cost is pennies per dose.

Try it and see if that helps.
I'm still not convinced it's Vent Gleet, but I don't think the remedy outlined in Sally's article would hurt anything.
Yes, unfortunately prices of everything seems to continue to increase and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.
Do the best you can and let us know how it goes.

These pictures are from Saturday. From before and after I removed gunk and stuff from her vent, I believe. More pictures from later in the week to follow.

These are from today. It seems her vent is getting stiffer and harder to move… but I can hardly get any of that yellow scabby stuff off now. Some poop gets caught in her vent pretty regularly.

I gave her the recommended treatment from the above post, from backyardchickens, except for the wheat germ… I didn’t have any, so I gave her a palmful of shredded spinach and a quarter-sized piece of grass fed beef instead. Figured that’s fiber and nutrients.
And she wouldn’t eat that much feed, so I mostly just gave her the yogurt, probiotics, and ACV, and sprinkled a palmful or two of feed onto that.
She was drinking 1/4-1/8 a cup of water daily… but now I’m not sure she’s getting 1/8 of a cup. So I’ve been giving her 10ml (2tsp) by syringe 2-3 times daily.

Since I couldn’t afford the bird yeast treatment stuff online, I did what the family farm and home store recommended. She said she’d heard of people giving human yeast treatment medicine to chickens, and it worked for them, so I tried it. It was a liquid-filled capsule, so I’m not sure I got it into 3 equal doses, but I gave that to her over 3-4 days. I have been using the topical ointment in her vent 1-2 times daily.

Yesterday she started eating coconut oil, so I let her. Did the same today. Figured if it helps from the outside, it could help from the inside too. I’m still applying coconut oil to her vent whenever I put the other cream in there, after I flush it with water.

I began CORID treatment in her drinking water today as well. I figured it couldn’t hurt. I am still giving her diluted oregano, and I’ve been adding thyme to that.

With the way her vent looks, I’m not sure that she’ll get better… anything else this could be? Anything else I could try? I must decide if the most humane thing to do is put her down. Much as it would kill me inside. 😓

I'm very sorry that it's not going well.
I think this may be lash material you are pulling out. Salpingitis is an inflammation of the oviduct. Sometimes and antibiotic can help with the infection if caught early.
The inflammation looks painful doesn't it.
Amoxicllin or Baytril may help with some symptoms, but unfortunately most hens still eventually succumb to the inflammation.

Thank you for your input. I was afraid of something like this being the case… I will put her down within a day or two before it gets any worse.

A couple of months ago, maybe. But she could very well have worms again. I’ve had the worst year for them. You think that could be causing the vent swelling? I can’t see the picture for some reason.
